There is a process I go through to create an illustrated poster. First of all, I have to have an idea/concept so I begin with thumbnails. I feel like it is a great way to explore multiple ideas without settling on the first idea immediately. Once I have some thumbnails, I usually know which concept was the strongest. I then draw out the design in pencil as completely as possible. Some items will be edited in later stages, but I like the pencil drawings to be their own finished pieces. Then I scan the pencil drawing into he computer at hi-resolution, and I place the scan into Adobe Illustrator and begin the tracing & layering process. After that, I can select colors and add textures. A few final tweaks, and then a final export. Poster Complete.
