Shelf Road, Cripple Creek, Colorado
08/17/2017
I took a drive up into Teller county today. I headed south of Cripple Creek on County Rd 88. This road is also known as "Shelf Road" for very good reason. Shelf Road begins in Squaw Canyon, which features the famous Cripple Creek (not the town, the actual creek). There were many impressive rock formations, and lots of sunflowers and Canadian thistle. The most dramatic and prominent feature of the drive was "Window Rock" which frames part of the blue sky within its rocky crag. On the way back to Cripple Creek (the town), I checked out the Morning Glory Ore House. I hope to get back to Teller county in the not-too-distant future.
